99762XXXXXX
This one is really simple.
The first two digits are the car series: 95, 96, 97, 99, 90 (for 900).
The next two digits are the last two digits of the model year: 72 = 1972, etc.
The fifth digit is the manufacturing plant:
- 1 = Trollhättan line #1
- 2 = Trollhättan line #2
- 3 = Arlöv, Sweden
- 5 = Arlöv, Sweden - 97 (Sonett) only
- 6 = Nystad, Finland
- 7 = Malines, Belgium
The 6th through 12th digits are the serial # of that model on that line.

The 9th digit is a check digit, which will be 0-9 or X. No meaning, other than to make sure it is a valid VIN.
The 10th digit is the Model Year.
